Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was a Spanish painter, sculptor and ceramicist. He co-founded the Cubist movement. Among his famous works are Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, Guernica and Les Fleurs de la Paix. He was, probably, the most important artist of the 20th century.
Picasso constantly focused on erotica in his art. His sexual relationships inspired this eroticism. When he began painting in his early years, in a naturalist style, he depicted himself and a sex worker in La Douceur. During his cubist and surrealist years, he often portrayed the women in his life, such as Marie-Thérèse Walter in La Lecture. (To the right). In his later years, blending his earlier periods, he continued to picture his women, like Sylvette David in Sylvette. Though he was frequently misogynist, often treating women badly, he created hundreds of glorious works of sexual art.
